We got a lot of things done this past weekend. We finished making/assembling/printing all our wedding favours, menus, seating chart, and name tags. We also received our wedding programs and table numbers. We then dropped all this off along with our centrepieces and engagement photo to our coordinator who will make sure everything gets set up on the day of the wedding. So glad we decided to hire someone for this because this is all taken care of now. Such a relief!
We still have lots to do though. Here is the breakdown.
Today: Run Errands
Tomorrow: Rehearsal & Rehearsal Dinner
Friday: Spa Appointment & Bachelorette Party
Saturday: Last-minute wedding stuff & Family BBQ
Sunday: Wedding
Monday: SLEEP!

So unlike the makeup & hair trial appointment the cake taste testing went smoothly. Our cake maker Laura brought two mini cakes for us each with the flavours we had asked for. They were delicious and exactly what I had wanted. One layer will be sponge with lemon filling and the other will be chocolate cake with almond filling. They're both yummy. The down side of all of this was the mini cakes weren't so mini and thus I am still eating them. I tried to give some to various parties but there is still some left. I need to work it all off! Here is a shot of the mini cakes. Check out the wicked red icing. =D

Jack and I met with the decorators recommended to us by our banquet hall. The company is called Elan Cachet and we met with Antoinette and Michelle who were very impressive. We sat down with them and talked about what we had thought about so far for the design of our reception. They were really excited about our Chinese theme with the Indian food. We could tell that they were really passionate about their work and really wanted to do their best for their clients. Who wouldn't want to work with people like that?
We really wanted to meet with them to see what they could do for us and if we could work them into the budget. Well I am really keep on hiring them for more than what I had intially anticipated for. I really just wanted to hire some professionals to set up the banquet hall for us so that I didn't have to worry about family or friends botching it up (no offense family and friends!). But they offer really sweet deals to those who come to them through the banquet and we're thinking of also hiring them to oversee the entire day. I would really like a professional gopher so that I don't have to be stressed the entire time. Plus they are really friendly and very professional. I'm waiting to get the quote from them this week but I am most likely going to somehow work them into the budget.

I gave in our second payment to our banquet hall yesterday. Now the rest of the amount will be charged to us a few days before the event. Dang! That's going to be a lot of moolah to put up. At least it can grow some interest in the meantime.
We also finalized our dinner menu, which I think most people will enjoy. We had initially thought to have at least one Chinese dish in case anyone didn't want the Indian food but since the vast majority of our guests have been telling us they want Indian food it seemed impractical to have one Chinese dish. So we're going with an all-Indian menu - buffet style. We also were going to have a vegetarian plated service for our vegetarian guests, but we have plenty of vegetarian dishes to choose from in the buffet so we cancelled the plated service. Plus kids were initially supposed to have chicken fingers and fries, but they're going to get the buffet food too. So basically everyone gets buffet food making things A LOT easier for us. Seriously, debating over the kids menu and the vegetarian menu stressed us out and this outcome is so satisfying. I'm glad we came to a simple solution. Our dinner menu will be posted on our wedding website, which will debut soon.
