Ajjamma's Blessing
I went to India a couple of months ago and I was blessed to be able to celebrate my Ajjamma's 80th birthday with her. I spent an entire week with her in her house, which is something that I would not have appreciated in my younger years. One of the things that really touched me though was her blessing for me. Even though she was sad that she wouldn't be there for our wedding she still put her hand on my head and said in her sweet Ajjamma voice, "God bless you." I'm not one for really caring about other people's approval or blessings for my marriage decision, but this really touched me. I don't know if it was because it was from my Ajjamma, or because it came from my only living grandparent, or because it came from such a sincere and honest heart. I really wish she could attend, but even though she won't be there I'm glad that I will at least have her support.
