I finished setting up our Sears wedding registry the other day. It took me a good 2-3 hours by going through all their products and inputting it in. But thankfully everything is online so I could do it in the comfort of my home in my jammies. I had made an account before but I couldn't remember the password (they don't send a conformation e-mail...wtf!) so I had to create another account. So there are two accounts for us listed but online one has our actual registry. IThe false one also has our wedding day listed as the 18th not the 19th so hope people don't get confused.
The registry is basically all the things we would need at this point. I refrained from getting decorative things or things that require knowledge of our current decor since we don't know where we will be living once we're married. So I tried choosing things that were pretty neutral that could work anywhere. Other than that the only thing that aren't on the registry are the tools I want. We were planning on putting any tools, appliances and other houseware items that we couldn't have on the Sears registry on the Canadian Tire one. Well I found out that Canadian Tire used to have a wedding registry program but have recently cancelled it. And since neither Rona, Lowes or Home Depot have gift registry programs I won't get my tools. It's not fair! Jack gets his cooking stuff (he loves to cook) and I don't get my power tools. I'll have to settle for gift cards to one of those stores, but I doubt I will get anything. I could put some tools on the Sears registry but they don't have many listed, and things like power drills, and power saws are better to pick out in person because I need one that won't be too heavy/ hard to use for my size. Looks like I'll have to wait until we have enough money to buy my tools. *tear*
The registry information is posted on our wedding site, and I will post the url to that site as soon as we are done creating the online rsvp system. Look forward to that. =)

I haven't attended any bridal shows yet, but I'm thinking of going to the winter edition of Canada's Bridal Show. Their website is pretty useless though. It does not actually say what is going to go on. Maybe I'm the ignorant one for not knowing what exactly is supposed to take place at a bridal show, but can't they provide a little more information other than time and location? Gosh!
Dates: January 9, 10, 11, 2009
Time: 5pm-10pm (9th), 10am-9pm (10th), 10am-6pm (11th)
Location: Toronto Metro Convention Centre - North Building
Cost: $15 at the door (no credit cards)

I just purchased two rolls of 100 permanent stamps from Canada Post's Online Store. The prices for permanent stamps will increase from $0.52 to $0.54 on January 12, 2009 so we just saved ourselves $4 for 2009. Haha! They also have free shipping for orders over $25 so the only additional cost we had to pay was GST. I love saving money. =D
I also went to my local Canada Post to get them to find out how much postage we will have to pay for our invitations. I already measured them last night and I was sure that they were over the standard size but I wanted to go in just to make sure. Well it turns out that they will accept it at standard size (just made it!). Do you know how much this will save us on postage on our wedding invitations? About $100. No joke. Standard-size 2009 costs for Canada, U.S., and International are $0.54, $0.98, and $1.65 respectively. Non-standard-size 2009 costs for Canada, U.S., and International are $1.15, $1.96, and $3.90 respectively. That is basically double the price for all, and even more for international. DAMN! I'm so glad our invitation was able to pass as standard. This way we can afford to get personal stamps made for our thankyou cards. =D

I placed an online order for sample invitations and one centerpiece. I'd rather order one of them to see if that's what I want before ordering a shitload of stuff and then returning it later. I don't think I'll be disappointed with either the invitations or our centerpieces, but I just want to be safe. I was a little annoyed though that both the websites only shipped to the States. I was going to ship them to my uncle and aunt's place in Michigan since we'll be seeing them soon for Christmas and I could get it from them then. But when I was completing my orders both sites allowed me to put in a Canadian shipping address. So I thought I was in luck to get it delivered here. Well I got an e-mail telling me my order was cancelled for the centerpiece because they don't ship to the States. They ship to Alaska but not to Canada. WTF?! So now I ordered again and sent it to my aunt and uncle's place. Now I have to wait until the end of the month to see it. =(
