Making The Songlist

Jack and I...well mostly me since Jack is passed out on the bed >_>...are making our songlist. We already have the songs picked out for the entrance, first dance and cake cutting, but we also wanted to include some Korean and Japanese songs to play during the night. Not sure how many we should include though since we don't know how much time should be allocated to our fobby songs. Most of the guests there probably aren't into the music we are into and I'm not sure if they will even dance to music they've never heard. Plus what if it is played when we have some obligation task (like greeting tables) while our songs are playing? I can't shake my booty on non-dancefloor surfaces. So sad...

Dancing

Jacku and I went to see our DJ Monday night to finalize some details for the reception. We didn't have a lot to put down on paper since we're not doing a lot of things that usually require a particular song (ie. bouquet toss, garter toss, certain dances). Now Jack and I didn't want to do a first dance. We're kind of shy and I don't like the spotlight on me (which is why it's crazy we're doing all of this). But we didn't really have a way to transition from the end of the dinner/formalities into the dancing portion of the evening. We didn't really want to do the whole "follow the leader" chain since we'd probably make it awkward so intead we got suckered in to starting off a dance with us and then inviting others to join us on the dancefloor. Fuck. We're going to look sooooo stupid. If you don't already know this, Jack and I are really bad at dancing with each other. Really. We don't have the same rythem and yeah...it's not good. I'm hoping the rest of the wedding party who we are going to force to dance with us are going to be awkward too so that I don't feel as stupid. =P

Another thing that bugs me about the dance portion is that I know a lot of people won't dance. What's up with people (usually older people) who just sit in their chairs and watch other people dance. WTF. Get some booze in your system and come on the dance floor. If I have to make an ass of myself dancing so do you! I command you as bridezilla! Hahaha...

Btw to those of you reading who are coming to the reception, if you want any particular type of music genre played at the reception, let us know. We weren't sure what to include on the playlist and so we put down what we think our friends would like.

Hall & DJ

W00t! I gave in our $500 deposit to the reception hall and signed the contract so we officially have July 19, 2009 booked for our wedding reception. As of this Saturday our event will be displayed on their website. The owner, Minesh, impressed me even more than when I first met him. He's really courteous, professional and accommodating. Exactly the type of person we're looking for to help us with this shindig.

I also found out that DJs pay a fee to the Canadian Disk Jockey Association so they can play any music without getting sued. That includes music from other countries as well so we can get ours to play our favourite Japanese and Korean tracks. W00t!
