People's Jewellers - Poor Customer Service
Jack and I decided to start looking for wedding rings this weekend and figured that since he bought my engagement ring at People's Jewellers that we should start off there. We went to the one located in the Toronto Eaton Centre. We went in, browsed around to see if they had a specific wedding rings section and then decided to wait for the next available staff member to help us. Well we were completely ignored. There were two who were busy doing something on their computer systems and even though they had noticed us standing in front of them, they did not even acknowledge us. The rest were too consumed with the customers that they were helping to even make eye contact with us. And once someone was free they looked right at us, started to ask if she could help us, and then looked over at another customer who came after us and proceeded to help her. Even though I'm used to being ignored by sales people (they tend to think I'm younger than I really am and therefore unworthy of their time), Jack wasn't used to this. When he came in to buy an engagement ring he was helped right away. So why were we snubbed this time. I was so pissed off that I walked out of the store. Assholes like that do not deserve my money. I'm just filed a complaint, which you can read here:
My fiance and I went into the Eaton Centre branch on Saturday November 29, 2008 to look at wedding rings. My fiance had bought the engagement ring at People's and we figured that it would be a natural choice to go with you again for our wedding rings. When we entered the store nobody helped us. After we browsed around and we were continued to be ignored we stopped and waited to be served. None of the 6+ sales associates acknowledged our presence. When one sales associate had finished with a customer she looked right at us, started to ask if she could help us, and then looked over at another customer who came after us and proceeded to help her instead. I am completely appalled by the treatment we were given. We didn't do anything to receive such foul treatment and we are just as much entitle to being served as any other customer. I am very disappointed that not only were we snubbed by EVERY sales associate at this location but that nobody seemed to care when we walked out of the store annoyed. We were doing you a favour by prioritizing you over other vendors. Clearly we were wrong but it will not happen again. I suggest you implement more effective people skills in your training to teach your employees human decency. Thank you for your time.
I won't be surprised if they don't give a shit about my complaint. It's not like they cared in the store.
