I'm annoyed. I had ordered boxes for the wedding favours back in March and shipped it to my parents' house. This weekend we went back to my parents' place to work on the centrepieces and assemble the favours. I had opened the package of the boxes before and they looked like what I had ordered. When we opened the plastic the boxes were in and looked at the bottom of the box we discovered a huge ugly red logo of the manufacturer printed along with their contact info. It looks really tacky.
I e-mailed the website telling them they did not mention the logo in their description or show a picture of it on their product view. I requested that they fixed the situation by either sending me a new order without printed bottoms or to send personalized labels (which they also sell) so that I can cover the logo. They e-mailed me back saying that they have never received a complaint about the product and if I wanted the labels then I would have to pay for them. They also assured me that nobody will notice the bottom of the box.
WTF?! Honestly, that is such bullshit. Who wouldn't pick up their wedding favour and notice a stupid fugly logo? I wrote back saying this is a wedding and not a tacky two dollar event. Honestly, what kind of service do they offer? first they misadvertise a product and then they have the nerve to make it out like I am over reacting. Seriously, doesn't this look tacky?

So for future reference do not buy anything from Wedding Favorites. They are assholes that sell substandard product and expect their customers to feel guilty for being dissatisfied about their fugly products.

Something has been bothering me lately. Jack and I have tried to be environmentally conscious about our wedding decisions. We had an online RSVP form and posted maps online to prevent paper from being wasted. We went with an outdoor chapel which won't require the use of lights or heating. We also chose a reception location that disposes of food in an environmentally safe way. And now I realized that we have about 150 boxes for our wedding favours. Crap! What a waste. They're probably just going to get thrown out. And I already ordered them so I have to use them. I'm really kicking myself for not thinking of this earlier so that we could try to come up with some better alternatives. I feel like such a dumby. *sigh*

We've already picked out what our wedding favours are going to be. We opted to go for something practical and worth consuming rather than giving everyone a useless trinket (which most people already have enough of). However it has just dawned on me that maybe we should be providing a more kids friendly one for the kids. I'm sure some would like the ones the adults would get, but I'm not sure about the really young ones. We will have about 15 kids at the reception which range from less than a year old (including one in the oven! and no we are not counting him on the guestlist =P) to about 11 years old. I'm not sure if we should give the little ones something they would like more...like gummybears? I'd prefer not to give a toy just because kids always want to try out their new toy as soon as they get it, which isn't always the best idea at a wedding reception. On the other hand, would kids feel more happy getting something that the adults got? Some kids are all about being a big boy/girl.
Aside from favours, I'm wondering if we should also prepare a goodybag for the kids. Receptions are long and boring for kids so maybe they would want to colour or something. I'm not sure...I'm not really good with kids. I would actually prefer if people kept their kids at home but the mention of an adults-only reception had some of my family members pretty peeved. I don't see why people take not having their kids invited to an adults event so personally, but bleh. What peeves me is people who don't watch their kids and allow them to act like spoiled brats. I really hope I don't have any distasteful kid moments at the reception.
Man, two bitch posts in a row. I should follow up with something more pleasant. o_O

I was looking up different types of tags and labels to tie onto my wedding favours and I found out that they are also called confetti cards. I thought this was really odd since I was under the impression that confetti referred to useless pieces of scrap paper that you toss at people to celebrate something (or what to watch them spend time picking the pieces of paper out of their hair because you're a horrible person =P). So I tried to look up why they were called confetti cards and I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know why? Please enlighten me.
Btw, for those of you who shop at Banana Republic, they are having a 40% off storewide sale in two days on Wednesday December 10, 2009. Unfortunately Banana Republic in Canada typically only stocks sizes 4 and up. Those bastards! How dare they snub the size 0 and 2 people. *tear* If you want info on more great sales in Canada, check out SmartCanucks.ca.

Jack and I have decided on our wedding favours. We had originally put aside $500 for them, so for about 160 people it would cost about $3 per item. The wedding favours we have chosen will come to about that amount. If we have 170 guests it will come to just under $500 but anymore will put us just over that amount. Noooo! I want to stay under budget.
Btw, the wedding favours are really cute and I can't wait to unveil them...at the reception! =D
