Work Wedding Shower

Today as I was wrapping up some paperwork on a case I was called to a short meeting at the other end of our floor. So I changed my status (I'm timed on everything! *tear*) and headed off to it. When I got there they were gathering everyone and I thought it was an update on our location situation since the last time this happened we were told the department was moving to a different location that we have previously been told about. So as my boss starts talking he looks over at me and says, "we're here today to congratulate *** on her recent marriage." My eyes popped out of my head and my jaw dropped to the floor. I had no idea it was all for me. They congratulated me, gave me a present, and made me give an impromt speech. It was nice. I opened  the present when I got home so that I could rub it in Jack's face. It of course didn't work since he didn't care and he was distracted by some anime he was watching on the computer. Other than that, I'm happy. =)

Btw, it was a month yesterday that we got married. Say what? Where has the time gone? Still have to mail out these damn thank you cards. =/

Not The Mrs.

So one of the cheques we received was made out to me with Jack's surname. I went to the bank today to see if I could still deposit it into my account if I brought in our record of solemnization of marriage. Unfortunately they can't accept anything other than the name on file and since I'm not changing my account (or any other file/record) to Jack's surname the cheque is useless. So now I have to send the cheque back to the person who wrote it and tell them I can't deposit it. Oh gift issues. *sigh*

Wedding Registry - Kitchen Stuff Plus

Jack and I went to Kitchen Stuff Plus today after getting bubble tea (so good!). They were having a  sale so we decided to check out what  they had. FABULOUS. I saw several things that I had put on the Sears registry for a much lower price. We checked to see if they did wedding registries and they do! So we're going to take off the kitchen items from the Sears registry and create one for Kitchen Stuff Plus. There isn't any point in paying more for the same product. We have to go to the store though to create our registry but since it's only a block away it's not a big deal at all. And their sales peoeple are really great. The only thing that I'm concerned about though is that they only have five locations in the GTA and since they don't have registries posted online our guests will have to go to a store to purchase from the registry. You can go on the website to get them to mail a copy of the registry to you, but you'd still have to go to a store to buy anything. This might be more burdensome for those who don't live close to a location. I'm not sure if it's the best idea to have our kitchen items taken off our Sears registry, but the prices are seriously much lower for the same products. I'm hoping the price difference is worth it.

Sears Registry Done

I finished setting up our Sears wedding registry the other day. It took me a good 2-3 hours by going through all their products and inputting it in. But thankfully everything is online so I could do it in the comfort of my home in my jammies. I had made an account before but I couldn't remember the password (they don't send a conformation e-mail...wtf!) so I had to create another account. So there are two accounts for us listed but online one has our actual registry. IThe false one also has our wedding day listed as the 18th not the 19th so hope people don't get confused.

The registry is basically all the things we would need at this point. I refrained from getting decorative things or things that require knowledge of our current decor since we don't know where we will be living once we're married. So I tried choosing things that were pretty neutral that could work anywhere. Other than that the only thing that aren't on the registry are the tools I want. We were planning on putting any tools, appliances and other houseware items that we couldn't have on the Sears registry on the Canadian Tire one. Well I found out that Canadian Tire used to have a wedding registry program but have recently cancelled it. And since neither Rona, Lowes or Home Depot have gift registry programs I won't get my tools. It's not fair! Jack gets his cooking stuff (he loves to cook) and I don't get my power tools. I'll have to settle for gift cards to one of those stores, but I doubt I will get anything. I could put some tools on the Sears registry but they don't have many listed, and things like power drills, and power saws are better to pick out in person because I need one that won't be too heavy/ hard to use for my size. Looks like I'll have to wait until we have enough money to buy my tools. *tear*

The registry information is posted on our wedding site, and I will post the url to that site as soon as we are done creating the online rsvp system. Look forward to that. =)

Wedding Registry

Jack and I are trying to figure out where we should have our wedding registry. Since we're not living together before we get married, we will need things to furnish a house - mostly the essentials. I don't think people give things like furniture for a wedding present...do they? Anyway we figure our best bets are either Sears or The Bay. When I have time I'm going to go through their catalogues and see which one has more things that would suit us better. And we can also create our registry online for both of them. How convenient!

I wonder if there is a right and wrong way to set up a registry. Such as: is there a ratio of more affordable and more expensive gifts to put on the registry so that people who can't afford a lot can just get the couple something like...towels? There must be some type of general guideline. Right? And I'm assuming you put more items on the registry than people you invite so that people can have a selection. Or do people tend to buy more than one thing? Oh man, I think I should look for some articles online about this. =/
