Breaking In Shoes Or Breaking In My Feet?

Breaking in shoes is painful! I want to take two pairs of shoes to Japan and other than my puma sneakers all I have are heels. I didn't want to take my kitten heels to Japan since I'll be walking ALL day so I wanted to get a pair of flats. Do you know how hard it is to find a pair of size 5 flats for narrow feet? Fucking hard. And I live by the tourist shopping district! I thought I would just go to Payless Shoes and get a pair since their shoes die in a few months and I would just toss them when I got back, but there wasn't anything that fit. My feet are too narrow and the backs slip out easily. I finally found a pair of BCBGirls silver flats at the Winners down the street (YES! The Winners here stocks awesome stuff). I was uber happy and decided to break them in today.

So really, why is it called breaking in the shoes when it feels like you're breaking your feet? Why hasn't someone invented some sort of breaking in machine or at least some type of breaking in socks? I love the shoes and they will be great when they're broken into, but blisters galore right now! This is for you Japan. I'm breaking my feet for you.

Honeymoon Procreation

I came across a post today when looking for online articles on what to pack for a honeymoon to Japan. The author (a woman teaching English in Japan) had some useful information but in two of her points she mentions having children. Umm, what? Aren't honeymoons usually about fucking and not procreating? *cough* So anyway, these were her two random plugs for having kids:

- "Bring your cameras for documentation. This is a very momentous occasion in your married life, so keep the memories for your future children to see."
- "Include folding bag or extra bag that you may use to put some souveneirs you might want to buy in your honeymoon place. Remember not to buy new one if you already have it for you to save money for the pregnancy and the new baby."

Is Japan a fetility hotspot or something? Why are her packing tips so geared towards procreating? I mean, isn't it a good idea to have honeymoon pictures for YOURSELF and not just your possible future kids? And how much money are you going to save by not buying a bag? Seriously. Diapers are expensive! I'd rather invest in the bag.

It bothers me that people think that just because a couple gets married they want to have kids right away or at all. It really isn't anyone's business expect the couple's. And really, can you imagine how hurtful constantly pressuring a couple to have a child is when they are trying and can't concenieve? Terrible! People need to learn to stfu (not particularly this lady). I'm annoyed at random people who keep telling us about our future with kids. I'm too polite to tell people to shut their trap. I wonder if gay couples go through anything similar, although I'm pretty sure they would have quite a few peopel telling them not to have kids. Hmm...I wonder why people think that they have the right to tell others what to do. Anyway, this post is going off tangent so I'm going to end it.

Japan Trip: Accomodations Booked

We are super excited for our Japan trip. We have officially booked all of our Japan accomodations. Most of them are hostels, making the trip a lot more affordable. Plus some of the ones we are going to have a more traditional ambiance to the hostel architecture and setup. One even has Japanese-style bathtubs (rather than shower stalls only). I can't wait to try it out. I remember Maki telling me how she missed Japanese baths since all we had in our house were stand-up showers.

There are quite a few items in our plans that we are really looking forward to, including a traditional onsen. I'm a little nervous about being naked in front of others, but thankfully I'll be going with my sister. It will be weird to be naked with her though since we haven't seen each other naked since we were really young. Anyway, I hope I won't be too awkwardly shy. I'm going to be SO self conscious about my body. Stupid Jack will fit right in and probably nobody will guess that he's a foreigner by looking at him. =/

Honeymoon: Japan

We finally decided on the dates we want to book our tickets for the honeymoon. We're going to Japan! While we're there we're going to be visiting my friend Maki (who came for the wedding and looked beautiful in her kimono), my sister (who will be doing an exchange in Fukoka for a year), and possibly my cousin who currently resides in South Korea. Ticket prices are crazy cheap from Toronto to Tokyo right now so we need to seal the deal fast. I'm pretty sure I will want to DIE by the end of the flights there and back. 13 hours straight...shoot me now.
