Conversations Today

I had some interesting conversations today with people regarding Jack.

Co-worker: Where is Jack from?
Me: You mean his background?
Co-worker: Yeah.
Me: Taiwan.
Co-worker: So then he's Taiwanese? Is that what it's called?
Me: Yes. His family immigrated here the day before mine did.
Co-worker: How old was he?
Me: He was 8 and I was 7.
Co-worker: Oh, you weren't born here.
Me: No (thinking how I just said I immigrated at age 7.)

Haha, I love my co-workers.

Me: My husband told me there was a package at the front desk. Is it still here or did he pick it up?
Concierge: Your roommate picked it up already
Me:  Is my name on file or do you only have my husband's?
Concierge: No, I just have his name.
Me: Can you put my name on there then?
Concierge: Okay, so your roommates name is Jack?
Me: He's my husband.
Concierge: Ok, so I'll add your name with your roommate.
Me: Husband.

Honestly, I swear I said husband at least four times.

The Widow Talk

Last night I woke up unable to breathe and I used my relief puffer just in time before passing out from lack of oxygen. I was still half asleep at the time and I didn't realize how severe the situation was. I went back to sleep and woke up in the morning needing to use my puffer again. I stayed home from work because I was wheezing and didn't want to take the chance of going outside and having an asthma attack in public with nobody but strangers around. It was a good decision because I had to use my puffer several times today. This made me really think about our lives and our future. What if I had gone unconscious and died? I'm not scared of death as much as I'm scared of how it will hurt the people I love. Jack and I haven't really had the death talk in a while. But having the death talk isn't the same when you're dating as when you're married. I think it's time we sat down and talked about what our expectations are if either of us was to lose the other, how to handle the finances, and any possible family issues that could arise. We should probably also write up a will. Man, three weeks into legal marriage and we still have to deal with this. I still haven't sent out the thankyou cards for the wedding yet. =/

Busy With Work

I've been pretty busy the past week. The last two weekends I was packing and moving into Jack's place. It's a much faster and less stressful commute from his place in Toronto than from my parent's house. It was also supposed to give us more time together to do wedding stuff, which did not happen at all last week. I was too tired from getting up so early and learning all day (training is hard work!). So my body seems to have adjusted to working everyday and I'm hoping that we will be able to get some things done this week.

On an additional note, I really like living in Toronto with Jack. We're getting to know what each other are like on a day-to-day basis and we're figuring out our own living patterns with each other. It's pretty nice. Plus his rabbit Mori is over to visit us for a week (she normally lives with his parents). Right now the fatty is under the bed lazing on a box. In a couple of weekends my parents will bring up my stuff that's too large for me to carry on the bus with me, which includes my two hamsters. We have to figure out where to put them though. It's going to be a fun house.
