We just got our updated quote from our reception venue and it's less than the original quote. Woo hoo! So excited about that. Right now it looks like we're going to be under budget but I don't want to jinx it. =D
Secondly I have finally finished folding all our origami flowers. My rubber cement has officially died though so I'm just going to assemble them this weekend when we go back to my parents' house. We also have to assemble all our wedding favours, print off the name tags, menus and seating charts, and withdraw all the money to pay or remaining instalments with our vendors so that we can hand all that junk over to our wedding coordinator on Monday.
I just can't believe the wedding is just over a week away. Wow. Time is going by quickly!

So Jack and I need a cake cutting set. We really don't want to buy one since we don't know when we would ever need a fancy cake cutting knife & spatula scoop thingy ever again. So we started asking some married people we know if we could borrow the one they used at their wedding. Turns out a lot of people don't get a set because so far nobody has one. Even though we could get a set for about $20 I still think it's a waste of money. Why take up precious space in our kitchen drawer for such a knife when we already have a pretty sufficient knife block set? It just does not seem necessary. So if anyone knows of someone who has a wedding knife set, or has one of their own, and are willing to let us borrow it, please let us know. Thanks.
[edit] Oh crap! I just found out we will need champagne glasses too. Note to self: ask if the bar will provide those [/edit]

So everything finally worked themselves out in order for me to finish printing labels, sticking labels, sticking stamps and sealing envelopes. That's right, I have just completed assembling my first batch of invitations. They will get mailed out promptly tomorrow morning before the mail person arrives. Woo hoo! The test batch seemed to work out well...I think. Only one friend told me that he received the invite. I'm hoping that since I have not been sent the other two back that they have also arrived safely. I'm hoping...*gulp*. Either way these buggers are getting mailed out tomorrow! I really REALLY hope they won't get sent back so please pray hard for me.
If you're wondering why I didn't do all the invitations now, well here is your answer: 1) the ones going to India will be sent later in a parcel and I'll get a family member to mail them out there. This is basically to save money. 2) I still don't have all the mailing addresses I need. 3) I screwed up some labels and I'm too tired to reprint them tonight.

Jack and I went to look at wedding rings at People's Jewelers last weekend. Yes, we decided to give them another try even after they snubbed us. We had checked out another place as well and both had pretty similar prices. We want simple bands, nothing really fancy on them. Since both prices are quite similar we're probably going to go with People's since my engagement is also from them and their lifetime policies are pretty nice. The last time I gave in my engagement ring because the diamond fell out, they didn't give me any troubles and I got my ring back looking fabulous. And on the plus side, simple bands are a hell of a lot cheaper than the engraved ones or ones with diamonds. We are going to come below our original budget of $1,000. Hooray. =)

I've been looking at ways to incorporate origami into our wedding because:
1) Origami is fabulous!
2) It's really cost effective for a tight budget
3) It's fabulous!
I've been looking ar various designs and I came across a gallery of really amazingly made pieces or art. There isn't any way I could make any of these (especially since they don't give any diagrams on how =P) but they are still great to look at. You can check them out here at Origami Boxes Pool. They have some really cute boxes that would be great to put wedding favours in...or to give as favours! Who wouldn't want a fabulous box? Well probably not people who don't appreciate origami skills *kicks them* but I certainly would.
