Officiant Meeting #1
Jack's at work today...on a Sunday - boo to work. Once he comes back we're going to head off to meet our officiant for the first time. I looked online and found some great questions to ask him. I figured it would be helpful to others to post them here.
1. Any restricted or mandatory passages that are read during the ceremony?
2. Any restrictions on photography or videotaping of the ceremony?
3. Marriage licence:
a) Do we have to pick it up ourself or can someone else do this for us?
b) Do we have to get the licence in the city we will be married at?
4. Any restrictions on personalized acts we want performed?
a) Walking down the isle together (we're doing this)
b) Giving parents bouquets
c) Receiving garlands from parents
5. Objections to cutting out traditional parts of the ceremony?
a) No sermon
b) No unity candle
c) No saying "man and wife" - must be "husband and wife"
d) Only one prayer
6. What will the wedding rehearsal encompass?
a) Day of rehearsal
b) Who has to be there
c) How long will it take
7. What will the officiant be wearing during the ceremony?
a) Suit? Robe? Other?
8. Is premarital councelling required?
A lot of other questions that I saw didn't really apply to us because we're not getting married in a specific church. Some churches have restrictions on what you can do or not do during the ceremony as well as what can take place on their grounds. Since we're having our ceremony in an outdoor chapel we don't really have to worry about that. =)
