JCL Photography

I found out earlier this week that James, the photographer who assisted our photographer Sharon, has his own website and some of our wedding pics that he took are up on his site. Awesomeness! James got some really nice shots of us and he was great to work with. You can check out his website at JCL Photography. Our set is posted on July 22.

Recommendation Request

This week I was contacted both by our reception vendor and our coordinators. Our reception vendor asked us if we could give a verbal reference to a potential client. After seeing all the written recommendations that they had, I'm not surprised that they would want one. I think a verbal reference is great and I didn't even know it was an option when we were looking for vendors. To be able to call someone else up who has already used a vendor's services is a great opportunity to find out what a person really thinks of the service they were provided with without the vendor there. So to anyone reading this that is planning their wedding or any other event, insist on getting a verbal reference.

Second, our coordinators requested some of our wedding shots from the ceremony and the reception. I don't blame them. It was a beautiful wedding and our ceremony and reception locations were stunning. I'm going to go through the pictures tomorrow and see what I can send them. Have that in mind when you pick a photographer as well. Ask that they take plenty of shots of the decor and the location(s).

Photo Shoot Booked

Yay! Just got our confirmation from The Distillery District that we have officially booked ourselves for a photo shoot time slot on the wedding day. We have it from 1-5pm but we'll probably only use it for two hours max. Good to have a large window though. I can't imagine anyone being there for four hours, especially in heels.

Photo List

Something that has been advised to me by others is to make a photo list, which is a list of pictures that must be taken. This is a scheduled list that establishes who should be in what pictures. One friend told me how on her wedding day she was in so many pictures that she forgot to take one with her family. Now she tells everyone she knows who is getting married to make sure they take a family pic. I guess certain pictures seem obvious but on the wedding day things can get hectic and even the most obvious tasks can go overlooked. I want to make things as simple and easy as possible and making a preordered list of who should be in what picture will help things flow. Sure people might put their two cents in on the day of on who should be in what shot and where people should stand, but hopefully Sharon's assistant will put their foot down. If not I might tell the guests to shut up myself. Nobody wants to deal with a stressed out bride. Haha. I'm planning on sending the list to all the guests who have RSVPed (to those who questioned why they should RSVP online, this is why!!!) so that they can find their name and know exactly when they will be in the scheduled pictures. Hopefully this will create less chaos.
